How to be a Promoter?

If you wish to work independently in the industry, then being a concert promoter may take you a leap and booking on your very first show.

If you are eyeing for bigger venues with prominent artists, then becoming a promoter normally involves establishing connection with established companies and working your way up.

In such case, there are two paths that you can take as a promoter and these are:

Number 1. Working for a Promotion Company

There are many companies that are handling concert promotions and their tasks might fall on planning festivals, arena/stadium shows or they could work for a specific music venue and take care of the promotional-related tasks of the show for that specific location.

There are many good reasons to work for a promotional company like the following:

  • Work on major events along with big names in the industry
  • Has lucrative option than independent promoting
  • No personal financial risks for the shows

Number 2. Work as an Independent Promoter

There are times in which starting a concert promotion may be as basic as booking your very first show. All it requires is some successful shows to be able to make your phone blown by different contacts. If you decide to work for yourself, you will be able to have the chance of choosing shows that you like to work on, you’ll be setting your own schedule, technically you are your boss but, be mindful as well that this may make you carry most of the financial risk for the show and it involves lots of responsibilities and you need to be extremely flexible.
